Parrots, the Universe and Everything
In this talk at UCSB recorded shortly before the death of Douglas Adams (best-selling British author and satirist who created The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy), he shares hilarious accounts of some of the apparently absurd lifestyles of the world’s creatures, and gleans from them extraordinary perceptions about the future of humanity.
He talks about his book, Last Chance to See, coauthored with Mark Carwardine, in which Adams and Carwardine travel to various locations in the hope of encountering species on the brink of extinction.
Throughout the whole talk, Douglas Adams delivers his typical satirical and common-sense humor while providing a scientific talk about the biology of different species, meaning of the universe, and everything else.
