Star Lecture: Science Brought Down to Earth
The hugely popular scientist held his second Star Lecture at The University of Manchester. Brian is an academic in the School of Physics and Astronomy.
“I want to talk about a small goal. I want to talk about the universe, but particularly the two great pillars of understanding the universe, that we built over the last century, and we are still building absolutely now to those two pillars, that I hope you’re going to contribute to building them in the future.
The two pillars, the two things that maybe you don’t learn at school, but you certainly learn at the university. One pillar is called relativity, which is Einsteins’ great contribution to science, and the other one is something called quantum mechanics, which is a fascinating theory and seems very strange.”
